FM ACOUSTIC: News

FM Acoustic has been recording for the past few months and we are almost done. We have been recording at Dana Sudborough's (our percussionist's) house. He has a great setup and really knows how to get wonderful sounding source tracks. Just one tune to re-record. We didn't like our last take of Awaiting by Jeffry Eckels. So just that tune and some solo overdubs and then were done laying tracks! Then mixing. Who will do that? How much will it cost? All will be revealed.
we are very excited about finishing this CD project. It's gonna sound great.

Great gig last night at Dunn Bros Coffee in Addison. We played great and some new stuff too...."Fall" by Wayne Shorter. I love that tune. We'll be back at Dunn bros soon so stay tuned!

FM Acoustic had a great performance at Dunn Bros Coffee in Addison TX, Tuesday night. With Paul Metzger on acoustic guitar, Dana Sudborough playing percussion and Jonathan Fisher on double bass, the band played great, had a great time and the audience did as well. Tony Rey was there

Percussionist Dana Sudborough is a welcome addition to the band. He brings passion and grooves as well as a lot of cool percussion instruments. Among them is the kanjira, a small frame drum in the tambourine family.

We played John Coltranes' Naima, Soundgardens' Spoonman as well as our eclectic, bowed (arco) acoustic bass originals.
Also we played a composition by Jeffrey Eckels called Awaiting. It is a beautiful ballad type of tune and a departure from the FM Acoustic fast tempo excursions. We ended up the night drinking beer and hanging with one of Pauls old guitar students who is now 14 years old, playing blues guitar gigs and sounding great.
Go to Dunn Bros Coffee any night if the week and check out some great live guitar music. (Unless it's Freddie Jones, then it will be some cool trumpet music and sometimes two trumpets at once by one dude - Freddie!)
FM Acoustic will be back at Dunn Bros Coffee in Addison on Tuesday February 3rd from 8-10 pm.

Hey Everybody,

Jonathan, the bassist of FM Acoustic, will be performing a program of Thelonius Monk's music at The Maple Point (Maple & Inwood) in Dallas from 3-6 pm Sunday July 13th.
